Bellevue Fire Department joins the Bellevue Fire Foundation in celebrating the donation of
$10,000 in DoorDash Community Credits.

BELLEVUE, WA – Today, the Bellevue Fire Foundation received $10,000 in DoorDash Community Credits which will support Bellevue’s first responders and local families in need. The presentation of the funds will take place at Fire Station 3 in the Crossroads area of Bellevue.

“We’re proud to partner with DoorDash to address the challenges our residents face, whether it be by a house fire, medical emergency, or other crisis,” said Bellevue Fire Chief Jay Hagen. “The pandemic amplified the needs of families in neighborhoods like Crossroads, and the ability for our firefighters and paramedics to offer warm meals and basic necessities will make a world of difference for our community members.”

Created in January 2021, the DoorDash Community Credits program provides gift cards to nonprofits as part of ensuring strong and resilient communities, one meal at a time. This donation will enable Bellevue firefighters and first responders to order meals and essentials on-demand through the DoorDash platform for those in need, including families facing hardships and first responders on the job.

“For many families in the Bellevue area, just one unforeseen circumstance could force a family into financial instability and food insecurity,” said Laura McCloud Mathers, President, and CEO of the Bellevue Fire Foundation. “DoorDash’s donation will empower our firefighters and paramedics with another tool to provide key support, such as meals and other essentials, to neighbors and community members who may be struggling to stay afloat.”

The Bellevue Fire Foundation is one of many organizations around the nation to receive Community Credits. The Bellevue Fire Department will distribute the gift cards through their C.A.R.E.S. program and medical services units as needed.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Bellevue Fire Foundation to support their critical work across Bellevue. Initiatives, like our Community Credits program, can help organizations empower the communities they serve, reduce food insecurity, and expand programs that provide access to opportunity in communities like Crossroads,” said Anna Powell,
Government Relations Manager in the Northwest for DoorDash
. “The first responders that are supported by the Bellevue Fire Foundation know what is needed to ensure families are taken care of during a crisis. Access to meals is one piece of supporting community members when they need it most.”
